dormakaba locks in the value of automated access control for Upside Down House SA

Hartbeespoort’s famous Upside Down House may sound like a disorganised location, but one thing is for sure – it has complete control over who enters and exits the building.

Upside Down House South Africa is a premier tourist attraction, boasting furniture that is upside down, art, jumping castles and kiddies’ rides, along with a small takeaway restaurant with sit down area around farm field.

Thanks to dormakaba, a leading provider of access control and security solutions and its sales partner Altitude Glass, Upside Down House SA now also features a state-of-the-art automated entrance system.

Dormakaba salesman Jaco Joubert offered the ES 200 modular sliding door operator as a solution to meet the clients access requirements and upon acceptance, Nic Slabbert installed and commissioned the unit. This is a completely redesigned sliding door operator that corresponds to all the European and German standards and safety regulations.

It encompasses a stylish and modern cover design, a motor that ensures a virtually silent operation, a microprocessor that automatically controls the opening and closing speeds of the door, an energy saving power unit and new programming functions allowing for quick and simple installation, set-up and maintenance.

Key features include: –

  • Modular system suitable for single or bi-parting doors
  • ES 200 2D for application in emergency exits and escape routes
  • Hassle free door program selection using the remote program switch
  • Modules with special functions for challenging fields of application
  • Standardised mechanical components for all operator types
  • Sound-damping, replaceable track rail

The operators are tested to DIN 18650 / EN 16005 and/or approved for application in emergency exits and escape routes as specified in the German guidelines for automatic sliding doors in escape routes (AutSchR).
