Leading provider of end-to-end digital services and solutions Obsidian Systems, inspired by Red Hat, is happy to announce that despite the challenges presented by COVID-19, it is committed to run and manage the annual Santa Shoebox initiative to help underprivileged communities.
Muggie van Staden, MD of Obsidian Systems, said: “We have always looked forward to the joy of giving to children in South Africa. This year owing to COVID-19 restrictions and precautions, we will not be able to join our Red Hat partners, however, we have already pledged our annual contribution as #TeamObsidian.”
In fact, the company is very excited about the delivery this year as not only a CSI initiative.
On 2 November 2020 volunteers met at Obsidian’s offices and began with the task of shopping, packing and wrapping parcels.
As mundane as this may sound, after the lockdown and remote-first work policy, the Santa Shoebox initiative allowed the opportunity for our volunteers to put their efforts together for a good cause.
By the end of the week, the company already delivered 23 boxes and our team felt invigorated in the company of colleagues.
Volunteers donated their time and also had the opportunity to purchase items for the boxes.
Those unable to volunteer could also still pledge a Rand amount for this cause on the Santa Shoebox website in a personal capacity.
“Thank you to our staff, partners, vendors and suppliers that have contributed to bringing joy to those children in need in #SouthAfrica and for volunteering to pack, buy and give of their time, money and efforts to your choice of a worthy cause.”
Obsidian Systems extends a challenge to all partners, vendors and colleagues to pledge or donate a Santa Shoebox.
